Lingala Grammar and Dictionary: English-Lingala, Lingala-English John Carrington and Malcolm Guthrie This English-Lingala dictionary is a revision of the first half of Professor Malcolm Guthrie's Dictionnaire Français-Lingala published in 1951, itself part of a grammar and dictionary he produced in 1939. He came to the Congo in 1971 to collect material for a complete revision of his earlier Lingala work, but he died the following year before he could do much more than make notes on the dictionary. The changes he proposed there have been incorporated by John Carrington in what follows together with other material collected mainly in the Upper Congo. 238 pp., paperback. $49.95
