The Oxford Picture Dictionary Interactive CD-ROM is based on The Oxford Picture Dictionary, with 3,700 words brought to life through sound and stunning visual images, in 128 topics grouped into 12 thematic units, including a strong job-skills strand. A special viewer allows students to explore the whole graphic as well as zoom in for close-ups, and there is a wide selection of activity types, such as Conversation, Reading, Job Talk, Role-play and Writing, to provide contextualized vocabulary practice in all four skills. A built-in word processor allows students to write about any dictionary topic and print out their work. There are highly motivating games, customizable to students' needs. A personalized Flashcard Maker allows students either to test themselves on-screen or to print out cards with the word and corresponding picture. Randomly-generated tests are provided for each topic page. There are both summary and detailed reports, allowing students and teachers to monitor progress, and a teacher-management system allows teachers to review and edit student information, as well as view tests and writing.
