Free Italian Lessons and Courses
We have gathered together here a number of free Italian language lessons and language courses for those learning Italian, along with some other Italian language resources, such as Italian online courses and exercises, podcasts, video lessons, alphabets, dictionaries, lexicons, verb conjugations, language communities, newspapers, articles, and books. Most of these sites will be in English, although a number are multilingual in nature.

An extensive source of Italian learning resources for Beginning and Intermediate students, with extensive audio and video clips. Practise basic grammar, use a number of their different online courses (Italian Steps, Talk Italian, Italianissimo, Italian Journey), learn holiday phrases, use Cool Italian with their audio guide to learn slang, gauge your level in Italian, and get tips on how to improve your learning and listening, and much more.
Centro Studi Italiani
The Italian Electronic Classroom! is a project of Centro Studi Italiani, aimed at providing free on-line, useful information on difficult aspects of the Italian language to students, teachers, translators, writers. Dentro L'Italiano
An interactive, multimedia course in Italian, with audio and video clips, exercises, grammatical help, and a course guide in a number of European languages. The course has 3 sections - Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced - and a substantial number of modules, some 25 or so per section, which can be selected by theme. Run by RAI (the public Italian Television) International.

These Italian lessons were written by Lucio Chiappetti after noticing the Spanish lessons that I had made available on the Human-Languages Page. By using the Spanish lessons as a template, he was able to quickly write up Italian versions of the lessons.

The World of Dante
The World of Dante offers a hypermedia environment for the study of the Inferno. This project is designed to appeal to the different purposes of a wide range of readers, not simply those with scholarly interests. This version of the Inferno is generated by software from a densely encoded electronic text. Unlike other versions of the poem presently online, this copy of the Inferno has been tagged using SGML (Standard Generalized Markup Language).
